Where Did That Come From?

You've seen the birds, and the photos that inspired them. I thought it might also be useful to see the full pieces of fabric I used to make them. This also gives you an idea of the potential I see in the fabrics I buy.

You too can make free pieced birds. My tutorial tells everything you need to know. You can get it here, at my Etsy shop.

You mean don't always look at the fabric as a whole, look at a small part and see if it gives the impression of something, like wings or feathers? I'm not sure if that's a good tip for me to learn, my stash is already bursting. OTOH, it gives me many more options for some of the fabrics I have but now don't know what to do with. Your birds are so cute!

Yes Gail, I want you to look at the fabrics you already have in new ways and see what it can do for you. And if it changes what you buy from here on out, then yes, that too.

You have been so generous demonstrating how you choose colors for your birds and now showing some of the fabulous fabrics you use. Thanks.

That was really interesting to see the fabric inspiration and the finished birds.
You have an amazing eye to see what looks good together!
